Among scuba-divers’ favorite destinations,  Ponza certainly deserves a place of absolute importance.
Many, in fact, are the areas where diving can be exiting and interesting, where one can discover lively and assorted marine life, not to mention the submerged caves and channels that surround the entire perimeter of the island.


Ponza, an island of volcanic origin, has very a jagged coastline, which leads to creeks, bays and inlets difficult to reach by land, and, therefore, less frequented by swimmers. This allows the marine ecosystem to remain almost intact, and for this reason, interesting to discover. Among the most popular points of interest is the reef "Formiche" (Ants), where you can observe groupers and moray eels, and a long series of underwater tunnels, the Punta della Guardia, full of groupers and white bream; Secca di Mezzogiorno, about a mile from the island of Palmarola, is  where lobsters and red sea fans are abundant, finally, the Rock of Botte, eight miles from Ponza, has two caves located at 36 and 27 meters of depth.
