Advantages for road hauliers who choose seaways. With the 2008 financial act,  the  Ministry of Transport allocated a 231 million Euro Ecobonus (environmental friendly policy) for the next three years in favor of  the Seaways in order to help relieve  traffic congestion, increase safety on the streets, and improve environmental protection and road hauliers’ working conditions. Road hauliers that choose sea routes are entitled to up to 30% discount. This system, together with the subsequent reduced costs in  gasoline, highway tolls and maintenance, will allow truck drivers to save even more than 50% compared with land transportation.
